Coldicott Woodworks is just finishing a 7,000 sq.ft. new build that included several
wood species in every room of the home. This home is going for LEED Gold and
we were able to provide maximum points for our cabinetry and architectural mill
work.
The majority of the house was cased in domestic Cherry, but the designer, Maaike
Linnenkamp with Natural Balanced Interior Design, Inc., wanted to add some
elements to make the woodwork really stand out. She specified Sapele for the
kitchen cabinetry as well as the breakfast nook and dining table. Inter-mixed with
the sapele was accents of walnut in the bar top, butcher block and at the edges of
the table. The entire master suite was cased in wenge. After a bit of research we
were able to obtain FSC certified wenge. The main powder room was cased in
chocolate bamboo. This helped award us the renewable credit for LEED. The
interior doors were made from domestic cherry and stained to match the brazilian
cherry floors. All of the casework and millwork came out beautifully. The
information flowed well between the designer and our build team. We were able to
actualize her ideas, the result is stunning.
